Will CCC clone the "Recovery HD" partition on Lion? |
|||
Starting with version 3.4.4, Carbon Copy Cloner offers complete support for archiving, cloning, and recreating Lion's Recovery HD volume.
When performing a block copy of a Lion volume, CCC will automatically clone the Recovery HD volume associated with the source disk. Because the Recovery HD volume is not generally required on a backup volume, though, CCC will not clone this volume during an ordinary file-level backup. CCC does, however, archive the Recovery HD volume when you back up your Mac OS X startup disk, so you can recreate this volume if you ever need to recover from a CCC bootable backup. CCC creates the archive at /Library/Application Support/com.bombich.ccc/Recovery HD.dmg, and leverages that archive, as necessary, when creating and/or restoring the Recovery HD in CCC's Disk Center.
See the "Cloning Lion's Recovery HD partition" section of CCC's Disk Center documentation for more details on creating and cloning Lion's Recovery HD volume.
